Valley Funeral Home is a full service family owned business. We provide compassionate personalized support to Nakusp families managing the challenges that follow the loss of a loved one.

We can guide you through the arrangements necessary to create a meaningful celebration of a life well lived. We will consult with you to locate the best venue and value available to accommodate your family’s unique needs and wishes.

We proudly serve the entire Kootenay region, including Trail, Nelson, Castlegar, Salmo, Nakusp, New Denver, Warfield, Fruitvale, Rossland, Grand Forks, Kaslo, Slocan, Thrums, South Slocan, Ymir, Balfour and surrounding areas.

William G. (Bill) Clark Owner

Bill was born in Trail, BC April 4, 1965 to Isabel and W. G. (Bill) Clark. Coming from a long line of funeral directors, Bill is a fourth generation funeral director serving the West Kootenays.


Bill’s great grandfather William G. Clark, a cabinet maker, established Clark and Binn’s Undertakers in 1898, in Trail, and today Bill Jr. is the managing partner of Alternatives Funeral & Cremation Services®, Trail.


Bill has two sons, Adam and Nathan. He enjoys the outdoors including hunting, motorcycling, golf, skiing and time spent at Christina Lake. Bill has served as President of the Trail Rotary Club, Greater Trail Retirement Housing Society and Christina Sands Estates Society as well as serving on numerous other community boards and clubs. He is currently Chair of the Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital and Health Foundation, and a past Director of the Funeral Service Association of BC and Birchbank Golf Course.

  • Assist in the publication of the obituary in the newspapers of your choice.
  • Create a Book of Memories™, a beautiful, permanent online memorial, where you and your friends can build a legacy of memories by archiving treasured photos and memories.
  • Welcome your family and friends to our funeral home for your planned services, including a viewing, visitation, funeral or memorial service.
  • Make all arrangements with regard to the services whether they are held at your place of worship, our funeral home, cemetery, or alternate gathering place.
  • Provide you with beautiful funeral print materials, including memorial folders, prayer cards and book marks. We also offer personalized note cards for you to acknowledge the emotional support you received from friends, co-workers and community members.
  • Provide an elegant hearse and funeral cars, as well as arrange for escorts.
  • Help in the selection and on-site arrangement of floral tributes.
  • Provide access to grief education and support materials, and referrals to counselling services.
  • Prepare all paperwork, including vital record statistics, permits, filing and obtaining death certificates, and assistance with life insurance, veteran’s benefits and Canada Pension Death Benefit and Survivors Claims.
