Frank Burton Drysdale

August 6, 1949 - July 7, 2016

Burt Drysdale

1949 – 2016

Burt (Frank Burton) Drysdale passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at home in Nakusp on July 7th, at the age of 66. Beloved husband of Patsy (38 years) and proud father of Jennifer (Jason) and Kris (Agnes), and grandfather (Gaga) to his four precious granddaughters Paytn, Lili, Addalin, and Isabelle.

Burt was born on August 6, 1949 in Truro, Nova Scotia to Elsie Burton and Frank Drysdale. Burt felt blessed to have come from a large family of 7 sisters, and 4 brothers, including many nieces and nephews. He was predeceaced by his father Frank and his sister Joan.

Burt had a life long passion for golf, starting in 1963 as a caddie at Calgary Golf and Country Club and was a member of the CPGA for 42 years . His remarkable golf skills were known widely in western Canada and his playability consistently ranked him on the leaderboard. Those who knew Burt knew his love of the game and his family so it was appropriate that Burt enjoyed his last round of golf at the Nakusp Centennial Golf Club with his family just days before his passing.

The Nakusp Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 13th at 10:30am with reception to follow at the Nakusp Centennial Golf Club.

A Calgary memorial will be held on Tuesday, July 19th at 3:30pm at Canyon Meadows Golf & Country Club.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Dear Patsy, So very sorry to hear of Burt’s sudden passing. We had some great times and trips together ,especially the one in Hawaii was terrific and such fun. Although we have not seen you very much over the last few years Burt will be sadly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

Very sorry to learn of Burt’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
My most vivid memory was when I was dragged off the putting green at Redwood Meadows to help with your first mortgage application and the wonderful relationship that followed for years after.
He will be missed but not forgotten.

Hi Patsy,
Just saw the notice in the paper about Burt and I am so very sorry to hear about him. Unfortunately I am away on holidays so I will not be able to attend the memorial at Canyon Meadows. Hopefully you are still working in Mckenzie Towne, I will contact you there when I come back at the end of August. Hugs to all your family, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Patsy and family,
We were shocked to hear of Burt’s death. We lost our grandson 2 years ago so we understand how devastated you are. Our deepest condolences to everyone in the family. Don and Maureen Snyder

From: Chris Buck
Relation: Burt was the pro at Redwood Meadows when I was a member in the late seventies.

Patsy so sorry to hear of Burt’s passing, he was one of the really good guys. I will always remember the great times at Redwood with Burt as the pro when the club first started. He was so easy to work with when we all got the Men’s Club going.
Burt was a model for how a pro should conduct himself with the members. He will be missed!
