Marie de Lourdes Theresa Irving
Born Nov. 03, 1918, in Trail, BC, one week before the ending of the Great War.
In 1926 she moved with her parents to Tarrys, BC, where she continued school at Tarrys and Thrums public school.
For high school she went to Kimberley where she lived with her older sister Eileen and her husband.
Upon graduating, she went to Normal School to become a teacher.
After receiving her teaching certificate she taught at various schools in BC, specializing in primary aged children. She was very good with the young children and eventually became the Consultant Teacher for the Castlegar School District.
After her retirement she lived at her home in Tarrys, where she enjoyed her large flower garden.
In 2008 Marie suffered a stroke, and in 2009 she moved to Mountain Lake Seniors Community, where she lived until her passing.
She leaves behind only one sister and one brother, but many nieces and nephews.
Marie’s funeral was held at the Cathedral of Mary Immaculate, with Father Jim Ratcliffe officiating. Her interment took place at Castlegar Cemetery.
