Marilyn Wilma Marshall (Oatman)

October 14, 1934 - January 31, 2018

Marilyn Wilma Marshall (nee Oatman) passed away peacefully at Bastion Place in Salmon Arm, BC on Jan 31, 2018.

Marilyn was the second born daughter to Ross and Wilma Oatman in Anyox,BC October 14, 1934.  She spent her childhood years with her sisters Fran and Irene in Stewart, Grand Forks and Kelowna.  It was in Kelowna where she met the love of her life Ken. They married and were blessed with three children: Debbie, Gord and Nan. The family then moved to Nakusp in 1961 and Marilyn quickly became an ambassador for the community. She volunteered for many organizations; most importantly she was a dedicated servant of the St. Mark’s Anglican Church and also the Chamber of Commerce and always did so, with a smile. Marilyn was a living example of her faith and this guided everything she did, therefore she left a lasting impact on family, friends and community.

Marilyn was a devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother. Left to cherish her memories are: Loving husband Ken of 63 years, Debbie (Darrel) Phippen, Gord (Lee-Anne) Marshall, Nan Marshall. And the greatest joys of her life her grandchildren: Matt (Chelsey) Phippen, Scott (Raianne) Phippen, Cole (Julie) Marshall, Rane (Alora-Brie) Marshall, Shayla Marshall, Logan Marshall, Alaura Bibby, Clark Bibby. Great Grandchildren: Jessica, Ashton, Dax, Ella, Mya. Sister: Irene Foster (John), Brother In Law: Ted Watkins.

The family wishes to extend its gratitude for the kind and compassionate care provided by the Staff of Bastion Place.

Please join us in a Celebration of Life at the Nakusp Legion Hall, March 31, 2018, program to begin at 2:30. To honour Marilyn’s memory please wear blue.

I like to think of my friend Marilyn in our school days. We were such good friends. Marilyn was always a kind caring person who gave her best to all situations. she was the top speed runner for the Kelowna High School and always encouraged others to join the sport. Ken was the perfect fellow for Marilyn and I am pleased to know they have children and grandchildren to carry on her memory.
