Milton Parent

July 29, 1934 - July 8, 2012

Milton is survived by Rosemarie, his wife of almost 58 years, and his children Simone (Ted), Milton, Pat, Lynnette (Gyno) and grandchildren Davin (Alex), Brian, Cassia, Joel, Adam, Tim, Steven, Taya and Corey. Also survived by his brother Leonard, his sisters Doreen and Judy, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Milton was an author, historian, musician, and family man. He wrote seven books on the history of the Arrow Lakes area and earned the 2001 Lieutenant Governor’s Award for Historical Writing for his book “Circle of Silver” about mining in the Lardeau. Well respected in the BC historical community, he also had a great gift for music and loved to share it with all as shown by his formation of the Rube Band that performed in the July 1st Parade this year. He was devoted to his wife, children and grandchildren and was adored by all. All are welcome to come and help celebrate his life. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Raise the Roof Club for the Archive addition being built onto the Centennial Building would be greatly appreciated. Send cheques to Arrow Lakes Historical Society, Box 819, Nakusp, BC V0G 1R0.

Milton Parent was a “Mountain of a Man” — such a diverse personality with so much energy & caring for everyone everywhere! He is definitely going to be missed by soooo many — to whom he gave is whole. Milton was the kind of person that the whole world needs — and should take note of how he could enter a room and within seconds have everyone chatting & becoming friends. An International Ambassador of his own type! I am so very fortunate to have been included in a number of family/friend gatherings with the Parent & Desrochers families over the last 32 yrs & am so thankful for their genuine kindness, thoughtfulness and support. Although I could not make it to the Memorial Service, I am absolutely thrilled to be able to watch it all on my computer. Thank you to everyone for the most incredible service — and for thinking of others so that we too could join in over the computer later on. You are definitely THE most INCREDIBLE family I have ever had the wonderful opportunity to know! Thank you for your friendship! Sue Archer in Ladysmith, BC

Rosemarie, Simone, Milton, Pat and Lynette, please know that Milt held a very special spot in all our hearts. We were proud to know him. I’m happy that Walter passed before Milt because this would have broken his heart. But, I know that Dad and Milt are up there playing music together and having a few laughs.

Just thought I’d send this pic of a good day long ago, Sharon.
