Paul Jackie or Jack John James Allard
April 26, 1932 - March 2, 2016
Tribute
Paul John James (Jackie) Allard
April 26th, 1932 – March 2nd, 2016
Passed away peacefully in the Minto House with his wife of 59 years at his side.
Jackie’s parents, John and Helen Allard raised their family in Burton along with Jack’s two sisters, Louise and Leone. The children attended school in Burton and finished up at Arrow Park. John passed away when Jackie was a young child.
So as the man of the family, Jackie went out to work at 16, driving truck to haul cement for the building of the Whatshan power plant.
In 1957, Jack married Marlene Hicks from Slocan and they settled in Burton. In 1966, Jack and Marlene along with their children, Richard, Brenda, Lorne, Elaine and Wayne, moved to Nakusp. Followed shortly by Jack’s mom, Granny Allard, who joined Louise’s family (Jim Robson) and Leone’s (Arnie Gustafson) now all living in Nakusp.
Jack worked in the woods but his favorite was driving his own logging truck. Throughout his years, while he worked for local forest companies, like Celgar for 25 years, he trained or mentored many truck drivers in the area. He was driving for Slocan Forest when he retired in 1992.
Jack enjoyed farming on a small scale, travelling with their trailer, dancing and music. As well as many trips up into the mountains with horses or on foot.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, two sisters and grandson, Trinity McQuair.
Jack leaves his wife, Marlene, and family: Richard (Deb Cameron), Brenda (Doug McQuair), Lorne (Michelle), Elaine (Jeff Carlson) and Wayne (Selena Rupp) and 12 wonderful grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
